Clean Agent & CO₂ Quantity Calculator.

Total flooding agent quantity for FM-200 (HFC-227ea), Novec 1230 (FK-5-1-12) and carbon dioxide — with net volume, design concentration, temperature, altitude, design factors and occupant safety checks in one place.

2Enclosure volume

NFPA 2001 §5.5.1 — net volume = gross volume minus fixed structures impervious to the agent. Each void is calculated as its own volume, as each needs its own nozzles. Tap a void on the drawing to include or exclude it.

Leave this closed for most rooms. The defaults (0–4 tees, 0%) add nothing, so the agent quantity does not change. Open it only if one of these applies:
  • Tee count — only when one cylinder bank serves several rooms through selector valves. Count the tees on the pipe isometric or the listed flow calculation; NFPA 2001 Table 5.5.3.1 adds 1–12% from 5 tees upward.
  • Additional factor — your engineering judgement from the site survey (§5.5.3.2): unclosable openings, obstructions, re-ignition risk or acid gas control. Ask the AHJ or the listed manufacturer if unsure.
  • Agent per cylinder — the listed cylinder size you plan to use. It only works out the number of cylinders and fill check; it never changes the kg required.

Leave at 0 for a closed room with HVAC shut down on discharge. Fill in only what applies: openings that cannot close, fans that keep running, or room temperatures above 93 °C / below −18 °C. Cylinder size only sets the cylinder count.
